Join buildingSMART to deliver the National BIM Initiative (NBI)

On behalf of Jim Plume and Chris Penn following is an invite to a BuildingSMART event on the NBI: For more information go here:

All those who have an interest in assisting the wider adoption of BIM and driving new collaborative work practices in the Australian construction industry are invited to attend a free Networking Drinks event to be hosted in each of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide during April 2013.

buildingSMART Australasia has organised these events in order to kick-start the National BIM Initiative (NBI) in the absence of committed federal funding, even though the work plans proposed in the NBI have been strongly endorsed by both government and industry, and mirror initiatives being undertaken in many economies across the globe.

We have identified three of the six initiatives as being both critical and achievable and are seeking your partnership in this crucial endeavour, both through personal involvement in the proposed work programs and, more critically, your financial support through corporate-level membership of buildingSMART Australasia.

Each Networking Drinks event is funded and hosted by a major industry partner:

Melbourne     5:30-7:30 pm, Wednesday 10 April, hosted by AECOM, 8 Exhibition Street, Melbourne

Sydney           5-7pm, Wednesday 17 April, hosted by the Investa Property Group, Level 6, 126 Phillip Street, Sydney

Brisbane        5-7pm, Wednesday 17 April, hosted by Minter Ellison Lawyers, Waterfront Place, 1 Eagle Street, Brisbane

Adelaide         5-7pm, Wednesday 17 April, hosted by the HYLC Joint Venture, Adelaide Hilton Hotel, 233 Victoria Square, Adelaide

As we gather for this drinks and networking opportunity in each city, we will take the opportunity to update you on current progress with the NBI and invite your feedback and commitment to the process. This is not just a feel-good event, but rather an opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and consider how we can each contribute to driving real change across our industry sector, focussing on the three work programs around IPD Procurement Models, Product Object Libraries and BIM Guidelines.

You must register promptly to ensure your place!
